Who are we?

Paranduskelder is an open workshop located in Tartu Aparaadithehas, where everyone is welcome to fix their broken things, create new projects, or just use tools with the help of our craftsmen. We also organize workshops and trainings related to repair and recycling.

Through our activities, we share life skills and contribute to the development of a circular economy. We believe that repair should be made more accessible to people and should be the first priority. Through our activities, we want to reduce the amount of consumer goods going to waste stations and guide people to make informed choices at the moment of purchase.

How do we do it?

The repair shop is open from Tuesday to Thursday from 5-9 p.m. Anyone interested can come and repair their items and get repair help. Sewing masters will be present on Tuesday, electronics masters on Wednesday, and bicycle and general repair masters on Thursday. Anyone who needs to use the tools available at the Repair Shop can do so on site. Whether you need a jigsaw, circular saw, riveter, or even a 3D printer - they are there for you to use!

Regular workshops and theme days are meetings that include various skills and knowledge, mostly conducted by craftsmen and team members working at Paranduskeldri. Some examples: - ABC of 3D printing - making a bicycle bag - ABC of using a sewing machine - soldering workshop - needlework of wool items.

Pre-booked workshops are group activities on sustainability and the environment, designed for companies, school groups, and spending time with friends. There are currently three of them: "From Waste to Creativity", "Demolish and Design" and "Sashiko".

The educational programs are aimed at students of the second, third and upper secondary school levels. The educational programs deal with topics such as circular economy, environmental problems, environmentally friendly behavior, responsible consumption. The programs are most closely related to the subjects of social studies and geography. They are very strongly related to the overarching theme of Environment and Sustainable Development and therefore can be integrated with other subjects.

Ongoing community events are aimed at anyone looking for a different kind of entertainment. Every month we have a Drink & Repair event, there are movie nights on the calendar, lectures and occasionally we have an Open House Day, where you can simply get to know the Paranduskelder team, our activities and eat lots of pizza. Recycling-based micro-enterprises operating in our premises can use equipment and work surfaces to make new items from salvaged resources. The initiators of the micro-enterprises are both schoolchildren and older people, who thereby gain first-hand experience with entrepreneurship and online commerce. The materials necessary for production are collected from companies that generate production waste (leather scraps, wood, textiles).
