THEATER // Rodney Ackland "Strange orchestra"
Rodney Ackland's 1931 play "Strange Orchestra" is a moving play that strikes with its unexpected relevance. In the turbulent time between the two great wars, young intellectuals renting rooms in a house try to live their lives and dreams - to love and to pursue their calling passionately. But they are tormented by fears about the future. What is the point of a good book if it does not prevent war? What is the point of falling in love when the upcoming war cuts off relationships? What is the point of the senses if I have to see, hear, smell, feel and taste so much pain? Despite the serious topics, the author deals with the subject with good humor and the hope that there is light behind the darkness.
"Strange Orchestra" is the graduation performance of the Jakobi Mäe Theatre Studio's high school group.
