The friendship between Estonian and Finnish countries and peoples is part of the national narrative of both countries. But what can be known about the relations between the LGBT+ communities in the two countries and how far does the research go?

What is the relationship between the Estonian and Finnish LGBT+ activist movements of the 1980s and 1990s? What do the memories of Finnish gay men tell us about Estonia? What role did Finnish television play for gays and lesbians in Soviet Estonia? What role has student exchange between Estonia and Finland played for LGBT+ people?

The Finnish-Estonian conversation will be moderated by quantitative historian Riikka Taavetti, ethnologist Rebeka Põldsam and folklorist Andreas Kalkun.
