EXHIBITION // Kärt Kunnus and Kudrun Vungi "Oestrogen of the Night Cabinet"

Kudrun Vungi graduated from the furniture department of the Tartu Higher Art School (Pallas) and holds a Master's degree in art education from Tallinn University. She has worked as a woodworking and art teacher and conducts workshops on wood crafting. Kudrun has illustrated and designed books and been an artist at the Tartu Student Theatre. She has been active as a painter for a little over 10 years: she has participated in various group exhibitions with the group Delegatsioon K and others, and has also had solo exhibitions.

Women and femininity are a recurring theme in her work. The dominant element in his paintings is the female figure, often in dialogue with a floor of various kinds

Kärt Kunnus is an amateur artist from Supilinna, Tartu. A constant desire to experiment with different mediums and techniques means that her handwriting is changeable and clearly undeveloped. Kärt has been a member of the Tartu art group Delegatsioon K for more than 10 years and has participated in numerous joint exhibitions. In the joint exhibition "Öökapi östrogeen" ("Estrogen of the nightcap") by Kärt and Kudrun you can see our most recent acrylic and oil paintings. As we both have three sons, we sometimes have time to paint at night, at the expense of sleep hours, in addition to our daily activities. At the same time, painting is an important and necessary time for introspection, and an activity that we have control over in the occasional chaos of everyday life. We've had several exhibitions together and sometimes manage to paint together.

This exhibition is inspired by the themes of womanhood and motherhood. Sometimes there is a need to rediscover the feminine in oneself by painting different female figures, as in Kurdun's works. Sometimes the argumentation is reduced to the movement and presence of substances in our bodies and minds - themes that are dealt with in Kärd's paintings.
