CONCERT // Popidiot / Antenna of Love vinyl album presentation in Tartu!

Popidiot turns twenty and presents a new single!

On 19 December, the legendary Estonian-Finnish synth-pop band Popidiot will take to the stage at the Armastuse Hall in Tartu, celebrating their 20th anniversary this year.
Popidiot, which started in Tartu in 2004, has been active in different cities over the past two decades, and regardless of their location, the band members say that they can remember all of these moments with fondness.

"As Matti lives in Finland and Hendrik Luuk lived in Denmark for a long time, it has always been a very energetic and euphoric time to meet and play together," says Rein Fuks, the band's guitarist. "First of all, it's great to see friends and then to make music together! A lot of time has been spent laughing too."
According to Fuks, Popidiot's concerts have always been crazy. "For me, it's a kind of synth-pop madness with punk energy. "Most of the time we had to tape the synths and microphones to the stands and the floor so they wouldn't fly away, but they often did..."
At the December concert, the ensemble will perform as a two-piece: Matti Peura - vocals, synthesizers and Rein Fuks - guitar, synthesizers, backing vocals.

"When Hendrik Luuk, the third member of the band, moved to America, Matt and I decided to continue making music as a duo, because it's a good reason to get together and not take ourselves too seriously!" explains Fuks, who says the band is still going strong as a two-piece. The latest single "The Hairdresser", which is sure to be performed at the pre-Christmas concert, is a sign of the band's good care.

In addition to the anniversary and the release of the new single, Popidiot will also be celebrating the 15th anniversary of their breakthrough album "Antenna of Love", which will be released on vinyl for the first time. In 2009, the album won four awards at the Estonian Music Awards, and the band was also awarded the MTV Baltic "Fresh" title.
Popidiot's concert will take place on Thursday, 19 December in Tartu, in the Armastuse Hall (Aparaaditehas, Kastani 42). The music before and after the concert will be played by Martin Jõela and Erki Pruul, DJs from their friend record label Frotee.
