AVAMINE 7. JAANUARIL KELL 19:00 TYPA GALERIIS.

Dylan Michilsen & Agve Urm tutvustavad TYPA galeriis kollaažikunstinäitust "Oleviku varjud".

Teosed uurivad häguseid piire, mis eraldavad reaalsuse väljamõeldisest, mälestused unustamisest ja unistusi õudusunenägudest. Pidev pinge nende vastandite vahel loob omakorda sürrealistlikud pildid, mis justkui kujutavad meie maailmast tuttavaid fragmente, kuid mida samal ajal moonutavad varjudes hiilivate hirmude ilmingud (teadmata, kas need on tõelised või kujuteldavad).

Sürrealismi puhul on olulisel kohal teadaoleva segamine tundmatuga, avades ukse alateadvusele ja puudutades seeläbi maailma, mis asub väljaspool oma silmaga nähtavat. Kollaaž kui kunstimeedium on täiuslikuks vahendiks sellistele transformatiivsetele väljendusvormidele. Vanadest raamatutest ja ajakirjadest materjali väljalõikamine ja sellele järgnev ümberkujundamine peegeldab seda, kuidas alateadvus ehitab unenäolisi paiku, mis on tekkinud varem õpitu ja kogetu baasil.

Agve ja Dylan loovad paberile trükitud mineviku abil ajatu maailma.

Dylan Michilsen & Agve Urm are introducing their analog collage art exhibition "Modern hauntings".

These works explore the borders separating reality from fiction, memory from forgetfulness, and the realm of dreams from that of nightmares. The tension between these opposing sides in turn gives rise to surreal tableaux depicting fragments of a world both familiar and foreign, touched by elements of the macabre and arcane lurking in the shadows, manifestations of fears both real and imaginary.

One of the key principles of surrealism is that of distorting the known into the unknown, an opening of the doors to the subconscious mind leading to contact with a version of reality beyond the world perceived with our own eyes. Collage as an artistic medium forms the perfect vehicle for such forms of transformative expression. The dissection and subsequent rearrangement of material from old books, magazines, etc. into newly composed forms mirrors the way in which our subconscious mind constructs the worlds we see in our dreams out of fragments taken from our lives and experiences.

Agve and Dylan create their own mythology out of scraps from the past, modern hauntings in timeless worlds.
